Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

RankTime is an iPhone interval workout timer. This policy explains what data the app uses, where it is stored, and who can see it. In short: your workout and health data stays on your device and in your own iCloud account. We do not sell your data, and we do not run any server that holds your personal information.

Health data

With your permission, RankTime reads and writes the following through Apple HealthKit:

HealthKit data is stored by Apple on your device and in your Apple Health account. RankTime never sends HealthKit data to us or to any third party. Body metrics you enter directly are kept in a protected, encrypted file on your device.

Camera and microphone

If you enable recording, RankTime uses the camera and microphone to record your workout video and to run on-device body pose detection for counting reps. All video processing happens on your device using Apple Vision. Recordings are saved locally to your device. RankTime does not upload your videos anywhere.

Progress photos

If you use the progress photo feature, the photos you take are stored in a protected, encrypted area on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party, and they are not included in analytics.

Bluetooth

RankTime uses Bluetooth to connect to heart rate sensors, including the Polar H10 and other Bluetooth heart rate straps. This connection is used only to read live heart rate and motion data from the sensor during a session. No Bluetooth data is shared off your device except as heart rate saved to Apple Health, if you allow it.

iCloud sync

RankTime uses Apple CloudKit to sync your presets, workout history, and body metrics across your own devices. This uses your personal iCloud account and Apple private database. The data is stored in your iCloud, not on our servers, and is not visible to us.

Voting on planned features

The What's Next screen lets you vote for a planned feature. A vote is stored in the app's shared CloudKit database so the total can be shown to everyone. The only things saved are the identifier of the feature and the anonymous CloudKit identifier that Apple gives your device for this app. That identifier is specific to RankTime and cannot be used to work out your name, your email or your Apple ID. No workout, health or personal data is attached to a vote, and you can remove your vote at any time by tapping it again, which deletes the record.

Purchases

RankTime offers optional in-app purchases: a Pro subscription, a lifetime unlock, and voluntary tips. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details, such as card numbers or billing address. The app keeps a record of your purchase status on your device, using Apple StoreKit, so it knows which features to unlock and can restore your purchases.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, RankTime schedules reminders locally on your device, for example workout reminders and trial status updates. There is no push notification server. Nothing leaves your device to deliver these notifications.

Diagnostics and analytics

RankTime uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to record crashes and basic usage events, which helps us fix bugs and improve the app. This is strictly opt in. On first launch the app asks for your choice, and you can change it any time in Settings. If you do not opt in, the Firebase software inside the app is never even started: no identifiers are created and nothing is sent to Google. We do not include personal information, health data, or identifying content in these events.

Data we do not collect

Children

RankTime is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date above.
